The Canadian Association of Physicists puts together a high school physics examination targeted for upper-year physics students across Canada. It stresses logical and creative thinking, by asking questions going beyond the expectation of the classroom. Prizes are awarded to the top students both provincially and nationally.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and the effect it has had on the Canadian school system, the exam committee have made a unanimous decision to cancel the 2020 CAP prize exam. As the CAP exam has historically doubled as the qualifying criterion for the International Physics Olympiad, this cancellation means that Canada will not be sending a team to the 2020 IPhO. While this is a truly unfortunate outcome, we feel it is the only reasonable one under these circumstances.
We thank you for your understanding, and look forward to the 2021 edition!
